Traffic & Transportation
Californians spend too much time stuck in traffic and not enough time with their friends and families. I have remained focused on addressing this challenge throughout my time in the Assembly.
In my first year in the Assembly, I secured funding necessary to complete improvements to the Interstate 680/State Route 4 interchange, and I am working on additional important efforts to provide a long term reduction in traffic. The Interstate 680/Route 4 interchange is one of the most frequently congested areas in the East Bay and I fought to secure the state funding needed for construction of new traffic lanes, safety improvements, and extensions to on-ramps to improve safety. These needed changes took coordination from state, federal and local governments and Iām proud that project came to completion every time I drive through this new stretch of highway with my family.
I wrote and passed a bill to lower greenhouse gas emissions and reduce traffic by empowering local governments to create optimization plans that adjust traffic signals to improve the flow of traffic. I also supported the passage of a law that provided needed funding to address infrastructure needs and improve our roads.
While these are important changes, California still lags behind many countries and states in updating our roads, bridges and airports. These needed upgrades would stimulate our economy and ensure our state is prepared to serve the needs of our businesses. I am committed to continuing this important work, with your support.
